My journey to handmade started when I was a child in elementary school. There was a clay workshop held for the students and we were taught about the useful things that could be made from this malleable medium. From the moment I held a bit of clay in my hands, I knew that the possibilities were endless!
As I have evolved as a handmade artisan, I have explored everything from paper art to color theory and everything in between. I take great pride in paper quilling, as it mimics the work of film editors of the past who had to roll the film into tiny little canisters. These days a computer handles it all!
With an innate sense of style and a love of color, each one of my jewelry designs is an eclectic mix of color using a variety of mediums that push the boundaries of both space and time. I credit my life as a transient with cultivating my creativity. I spend the winter month's in Rome as a film editor and the summer month's in Greece. The changing of the scenery speaks to my soul and often influences my designs. The beauty of the sea, for example, in Greece tickles my imagination and rejuvenates my spirit. A sharp contrast to the city of Rome and the trappings of modern life which also feeds into my creativity.
My Etsy shop HandmadeJewelryEgeo is named after the Italian word for the Aegean Sea which is "Egeo". It is truly a labor of love that features the musings of my mind and the whisphers of my soul. When I am not hard at work in my studio, I love to capture the beauty of the world around me with my camera. Shooting video is one of my greatest passions and there is nothing I love more than getting a great shot!
